Dr.
Zobair M. Younossi, is Affiliate Professor of Biomedical
Sciences at GMU, Co-Director of GMU-Inova Health System Translational
Research Institute, and Co-Director of the Center for the
Study of Genomics in Liver Diseases at George Mason University.
He is also Director of the Center for Liver Diseases, Medical
Director, Invova Research Center, and Medical Director of
the Transplant Program at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls
Church, Virginia.
After
earning his undergraduate degree from George Mason University,
Dr. Younossi graduated Alpha Omega Alpha from the University
of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester,
New York, and completed a subsequent residency in internal
medicine at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation in La Jolla,
California. He earned his master of public health degree from
San Diego State University School of Public Health in San
Diego, California, and completed a fellowship in gastroenterology
and hepatology at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation.
He then served as hepatologist and senior researcher at the
Cleveland Clinic Foundation until 2000.
A member
of such organizations as the American Association for the
Study of Liver Diseases, the American College of Gastroenterology,
and the American Gastroenterological Association, Dr. Younossi
has authored or coauthored 10 book chapters or supplements,
more than 100 articles for such publications as Gastroenterology,
Hepatology, Liver Transplantation, Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology
and the American Journal of Gastroenterology. He has also
presented over 100 abstracts at international meetings and
has been faculty in numerous prestigious national and international
meetings. Dr. Younossi is a reviewer for several publications,
including Hepatology, Journal of Hepatology, Gastroenterology,
and the American Journal of Medicine. He has been on the editorial
board of Hepatology and serves as the associate editor of
Liver International and Evidence-Based Gastroenterology.
