CEBCP MISSION
The Center for Evidence-Based Crime Policy (CEBCP), housed within the Department of Criminology, Law and Society at George Mason University, seeks to make scientific research a key component in decisions about crime and justice policies. The CEBCP carries out this mission by advancing rigorous studies in criminal justice and criminology through research-practice collaborations, and proactively serving as an informational and translational link to practitioners and the policy community. CEBCP is the home of Translational Criminology.

RESEARCH EXCELLENCE
CEBCP engages in primary research on criminological and criminal justice issues, evaluations of justice interventions, and studies of knowledge translation. Of special interest to the center are:
- using experimental and other rigorous methods to evaluate justice programs;
- a place-based focus on explaining crime and developing criminal justice interventions;
- developing translation tools to improve communication between research and practice;
- building collaboration with practitioners; and
- actively seeking avenues to disseminate information to the public.
