I
am a member of the
Interdisciplinary Center for Economic Science (ICES)
at George Mason University.
My appointment is in the
Department of Economics as an Associate Professor.
My broad fields of specialty are industrial
organization and experimental economics.
I am currently pursuing research on the foundations of
exchange and specialization and the origin of property
rights systems that undergird it. My other research
programs apply the experimental method to topics in
e-commerce, electric power deregulation, and antitrust.
ICES is located on the 4th floor of the
Truland Building of the Arlington campus (the Darth
Vader-looking building next to the Hazel Hall).
Our primary research laboratory is in Student Union
Building II on the Fairfax campus. Our wireless,
mobile laboratory of OQO
handheld machines is housed in the Darth Vader
Building.
Prior
to joining the faculty at George Mason, I was a Research
Scientist at the Economic Science Laboratory at the
University of Arizona. Before that, I spent a
yearlong stint in DC as an Economist in the Division of
Economic Policy Analysis and the Antitrust Division of
the Federal Trade
Commission.
At the end
of this academic year I will be moving to
Chapman University
as a Professor of Economics and Law to co-found the
Economic Science Institute with my colleagues
John Dickhaut,
Dave Porter,
Stephen Rassenti, and
Vernon
Smith.
